okay aside from the obvious that he was just a douchebag: 

if tony was anybody else in hoco, like a different character did Exactly what he did but he wasnt ~Tony Stark~ the ending of hoco wouldve been peter telling him to go Fuck himself. like literally Thats It.

 if it was some random johnny warbucks character using peter in civil war and then just tossing him aside and ignoring and belittling him for 80% of his solo movie. while also taking the suit away (bc that was some privilege?? and not just him USING him) and the “if youre nothing without the suit you shouldnt have it” HELLO??? he has actual powers??? it would Not have ended like it did. and THEN peter (near death) saves the day without The Suit (bc the suit didnt actually do anything special for him??? it was just a reassurance) from the bad guy he Been Warned tony about. like if it Was ANYBODY ELSE hoco wouldve ended with peter being like “Fuck You and Fuck Your Suit.“ a coming of age, an independence from him. like peter literally almost Died. they only toned it down bc it was ~tony stark~ being the asshole. 

ALSO the whole scene with vulture when peter was like “selling weapons to bad guys is Wrong!” and vulture was like “how you think your buddy stark paid for that tower? or any of his toys?” reminding everyone tonys entire fortune is from war profiteering??? and he changed that pretty recently. while on the contrary peter parker at like age 16 can recognize that thats #Bad??? like tony was not a Good character in hoco theres no escaping it
