saying gay/bi characters shouldn’t be defined by their sexuality or their relationships is like… the dumbest shit
like… of course they are? being gay is a big fucking deal! growing up gay and going on that journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance and experiencing love/heartbreak/confusion/discrimination/etc is life-changing for us in real life and it does affect our personalities. it’s always a significant part of our lives and our stories and to ignore that in fiction is unrealistic at best and offensive at worst
